It’s an interesting subject that applies to all athletes, perhaps more so in individual sports. I remember thinking about it while reading a Tiger Woods biography that detailed his swing change when he was at the top of his game. He regressed for a period, but then accelerated past his previous style. Per Player’s example, it seems he may have received some coaching that didn’t fit his style of play.
